Primary 1
Literacy Building (Reading + Sentence Writing)

Building Confidence in Reading and Writing

Our Primary 1 English tuition in Marine Parade focuses on building strong literacy routines early, so learners develop confidence and consistency in reading and writing. We reinforce phonics skills for spelling and decoding, ensuring children can read accurately and apply sound–spelling patterns in their written work. Reading lessons introduce comprehension skills for short texts, including identifying key details, answering simple question types, and building meaning through vocabulary in context.

Writing is taught with clear structure—students learn sentence construction, punctuation, and basic grammar patterns through modelling and guided practice rather than trial-and-error. Oral communication is also included through reading aloud, short presentations, and confidence-building speaking activities. This structured approach helps students adapt to school expectations quickly, leading to improved classroom participation, stronger written accuracy, and a solid foundation for progressive MOE-aligned English learning in Primary 2 and beyond.
